About ‘A Sunny Story’
Visit Maldives’ “A sunny story ” competition is aimed at providing local content creators the opportunity to showcase their cinematography skills and depict the natural beauty of the Maldivian islands, tourism products, and unique experiences.
The competition allows submission of 50 videos (with short descriptions) by any local content creator. The video content generated through this competition will be used by MMPRC/Visit Maldives for destination marketing purposes on different platforms.
From the submissions 50 videos will be selected as winners, each of whom will receive a prize money of $300. The 50 winners will include 12 top videos, selected from Liveaboards and Male’/Hulhumale’/Velana International Airport category, and 13 top videos selected from the Resorts/Guesthouses and Unique Places of the Maldives category.
Judging panel for this competition will comprise four officials from MMPRC and a professional cinematographer. Any Maldivian of above 18 years of age can take part in this competition, which has a set of guidelines to follow.
Guidelines
1. These are the Official Rules for the “A Sunny Story – Video Competition”. The contest begins on July 8, 2022, and ends on August 1, 2022, at 00:00 a.m (GMT +5).
2. The competition is open to ONLY Maldivian nationals and above the age of 18.
3. How to enter:
All submissions must be submitted online through asunnystory.visitmaldives.com, participants must include the following information when submitting the videos:
- Name
- Category: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3 or Option 4
- Description of the video (maximum 50 words) in English:
- Contact Number:
- Email:
- Social media handle of participant (if applicable):
- By submitting all items, the entrant automatically confirms that he/she agrees to all official rules.
4. Video entry deadline: 00:00am (GMT +5), 1 August 2022
5. The storyboard of the videos should be based on one of the options below:

6. Prizes:
From each category mentioned above, we will be selecting the best 12 videos based on the marks received from the judges. And additional 2 videos will be selected from option 2 and option 3, and awarded a prize. A total of 50 winners will be selected from this competition. Each winner will receive a total of $300 equivalent Maldivian Rufiyaa
7. Winner Determination:
Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC) will select winner(s) from among all entrants who have complied with these official Competition rules. MMPRC’s decision with respect to the selection of the potential winner(s) shall be final.The potential winner will be notified by email on 15th August 2022.
8. Prize Acceptance:
Failure to accept delivery of the prize will constitute forfeiture of such prize. If the potential winner is not in compliance with these Official Rules or if MMPRC is unable to contact a selected winner 1 (one) month time following the winner’s selection, the prize will be forfeited and, at MMPRC’s discretion, an alternate winner will be selected. In consideration of being awarded the prize, winner/parent or guardian hereby agrees and consents, without further authorization, compensation, or remuneration of any kind, to the use of the winner’s name, voice, picture, and/or likeness in any and all advertising, promotions and other publicity conducted by Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation.
9. The submitted videos must be released for individual usage or purpose usage grants. All submitted videos must be a first-hand creation of the submitting participant. No unauthorised use of any copyright images, text, or other materials will be accepted. All videos must also be submitted online. If we find a copied video, we unfortunately cannot accept the work.
10. Participants may submit multiple videos as entries for the competition. Participants who submit multiple videos for the competition will have an improved chance to win prizes as each submitted video will be judged independently, and each win will be for individual video submissions. Multiple videos cannot be submitted as a series.
11. Disclaimer: The entrant will be held responsible for any copyright dispute that may arise. MMPRC will not be held liable for any loss or damage which may directly or indirectly result from any advice, opinion, information, representation or omission, whether negligent or otherwise, from this competition.
12. Right of Use: MMPRC has the right to use selected videos on social media, website and other promotional activities.
13. General requirements:
- All videos should be filmed in Maldives
- The videos must be presented in a professional manner
- Photos should not have any filter which alters the original colours.
- To include the location details of each video when submitted.
- Videos should not have any watermark or texts on the video.
- Videos should not include visual or audio explicitly sexual, disrespectful or offensive to any culture or religion.
- Video should not be published in any media outlet or social platforms
14. Technical specification of the videos:
- Aspect ratio:16:9
- Max file size: 500 MB
- Video length: Minimum 15 seconds
- Quality: 4K resolution
- File types: .mp4, .mov, .mpeg, .3gp, or .avi
